Six Light, Fun Poolside Reads to finish out the summer! on chemistrycachet.com

This fun poolside reads are very light, requiring very little attention. Which to me is the perfect type of book to read by the pool. Books that require my full attention are better left to inside reading, when I am alone and without distractions. (p.s – that is a picture of Ruger when he was a baby πŸ˜‰ )

I looked at my calendar the other day and was shocked that we are near the end of July!

My best intentions were to share my current summer reading list weeks ago, but it has been a busy month on Chemistry Cachet.

Today, I want to share with you these light, fun poolside reads to finish out summer and take advantage of those long hot days. I don’t get to read poolside often, so these are also great for sitting out on the porch in the mornings!

Inspiration to Enjoy the Rest of Summer + $30 Target Giveaway

Inspiration to Enjoy the Rest of summer!

How is it that summer flies by SO FAST? I feel like we look down at the calendar and BAM, it’s almost over!

Today, we want to share with you some inspiration to enjoy the rest of summer! AND to help you make the most of summer, we have a TARGET giveaway for you below!

To me the epitome of summer is fresh fruits, iced drinks, and spending time with family. The days are long and hot, so I love the early mornings and evenings outside. I thought it would be fun to ask my sponsors from last month to see what they are loving this month, and give you some inspiration to enjoy the rest of your summer! Ps – that is totally me building sand castles at the beach a few years ago. Still one of my favorite things to do πŸ™‚

Meet Last month’s sponsors! Shanley from Just Betty Blog and Katie from A Worker at Home!

Inspiration to Enjoy the Rest of summer!

1. What is your favorite thing to do in July?

Katie: My favorite thing to do in July is be outside– 4th of July is my 2nd favorite holiday (after Christmas! :)) so having a party or going to a party for that is always so fun! Besides that, I love being at the beach, grilling, hiking, etc.

Shanley: When summer rolls around we love to cook out. The grill gets a good cleaning and every weekend is usually spent outside. July starts to get pretty warm so it’s always nice to be around water. Some of the best July memories are from floating the river or hanging out at the lake with good friends and food.

2. Favorite ways to stay active in the summer?

Katie: My favorite ways to stay active during the summer are running outside early in the morning or when the sun’s going down and the temperature is perfect! I also love being at the beach or hiking up a mountain. With a little bit more free time while my husband is here I’ll get to try out a CardioBarre class soon with my sister! I’m so excited.

Shanley: So I recently went paddle boarding when I was back in Arizona and I’m in love!!! It’s such a great workout and you get to be on the water. I also love going to CrossFit during the summer time. There’s something about dripping in sweat at the end of a workout that makes you feel like you really did something.

3. What is your favorite drink from Starbucks?

Katie: My go-to Starbucks drink is a vanilla latte or a flat white with vanilla. Pretty boring, maybe, but SO delicious.

Shanley: Well, I’m going to shock a lot of people but I’m not the biggest Starbucks person! Shocking, I know right!!! I love just a good cup of black coffee. But if I had to choose a drink from there, it would be an iced coffee with coconut milk.

4. Beach or Lake person?

Katie: Beach ALL the way. Bring on the sand between my toes the gorgeous ocean and foggy mornings turning into sunshine, and I’m one happy girl!

Shanley: Oh goodness, that’s hard. One of our most favorite vacations ever was in Jamaica. It was incredible, I love the beach!!!!! The lake is beautiful as well, and we have more access to lakes than beaches right now. But if asked where my dream place to live would be, it would be on the beach for sure.

5. Favorite summer fruit?

Katie: Cantaloupe has been my favorite fruit ever since I can remember! I’m not sure if it counts as a summer fruit, but we’re spoiled here in California with delicious fruit all year long, practically.

Shanley: During the summer we eat a lot of fruit, especially watermelon for hydration. I’d have to say my favorite fruit for the summer hands down is Kiwi! There’s just something about that little fruit that makes me happy.

Chemist Solutions: Easy Homemade Plant Food (Miracle Grow)

Easy Homemade Plant Food Recipe (Miracle Grow)! This post is part of the chemist solutions series, sharing awesome knowledge for you on chemistrycachet.com

Today I am going to show you an Easy homemade plant food that is SO affordable AND it’s actually effective. I will even tell you why it is.

The coolest thing about being a chemist would be the experimenting and research of chemicals. Chemicals are truly in everything. Food, beauty products, cleaning products, and especially gardening products like fertilizers.

If you read this blog often, you know Chemistry Cachet is all about making your life easier, healthier, and more affordable all through understanding chemicals.

Today, I want to share with you a really cheap option for feeding your plants. My easy homemade plant food was made for less than $4.00 and that was for all the supplies. Per batch, it is actually just pennies to make!

Store bought plant food, like Miracle Grow, is great. It is very effective and just easy to buy, but the truth is, these products are massed produced. This means they have numerous chemicals that are unnecessary for your plants. They are really just fillers.

This easy dairy-free berry cobbler is the perfect option for using up fruit that is going bad soon. This time of year, I just can’t stop buying berries! Much more than I could ever eat in a week, but they are just so cheap and pretty too.

Do you do that this time of year too?

I buy up a few pints of strawberries and blueberries, anything that looks good! By the end of the week, the berries are getting mushy. Almost to the point of not being edible anymore!
