How to make your own chocolate extract at home! This is so easy and can be used in numerous recipes! Chocolate extract recipe on chemistrycachet.com

Today on Chemistry Cachet, we are talking about how to make chocolate extract at home!

Chocolate extract?

Yes! It is definitely a thing and couldn’t be easier. Extracts are one of my favorite chemist inventions to use around the kitchen. It packs so much flavor into a tiny amount with altering anything when it’s baking.

Extract is a chemical method to remove the flavor from something. You extract a flavor into another solution to be used for something else.

Vanilla extracts are from vanilla beans and added to alcohol for baking. I have made my own (here are the instructions). Using homemade vanilla extract saves money and the flavor is amazing!

Last weekend was so cool and rainy, I almost felt like it was October. It was so unusual! We even had rain on Monday too. Sadly, the warm weather is back now and the rest of the week was pretty hot.

Since it’s the last Friday of August, I am okay with that though. Fallish weather will be here before we know it!

In just a few short weeks, the NFL season will be starting and I am so excited! Football season is one of my favorite times of the year. It reminds me of being a kid, growing up in a football obsessed town (hello Texas high school football,) and I really love the game itself.

The best part about football Sunday is game day food! It’s all about snacks (like this awesome salsa), easy to eat foods, and things you can munch on throughout the game. Chemistry Cachet is all about healthy football food options. Hummus is always my go to!

About a year ago, I tried this carrot hummus from the store. It was delicious! This recipe was inspired by the store bought version, but I played with the flavor a little bit.

Friday Favorites- A Beautiful Rainy Week

Friday Favorites - A Beautiful Rainy Week on chemistrycachet.com

Happy Friday! It was such a beautiful rainy week here in Texas. In fact, we had a few days that were only in the 80s which is incredibly unusual for this time of year (aka never happens). It got me SO excited for the beautiful fall weather that should be coming in the next few months.

My husband and I enjoyed the cooler weather and took many walks, did some swinging on the porch swing, and got some projects done. It is amazing how great you feel when it isn’t 105 degrees lol

We are also reading the new Harry Potter book as I shared on instagram a few days ago. I will share a review soon!
